I recently had the pleasure of mixing a little business travel with seeing the sights and sounds of Baltimore, Maryland. What is your favorite way to explore a new destination? I make a “to do list”. This trip my list included understanding public transportation in Baltimore, visiting a restaurant in Little Italy and checking out the inner harbor. Upon arrival; getting from the airport to the down town area could be done by bus, taxi, shuttle or light rail. I was feeling adventurous and took the light rail for $1.60. In thirty minutes and three short stops I was downtown Baltimore at Camden Yards, home of the Orioles. We stayed near the inner harbor where we found restaurants, shopping and museums to be plentiful. We loved seeing the yachts and ships. It has been an unusually cold and snowy winter in the East, our visit was no exception. On Saturday the city was dumped on with 8 inches of new snow.
We didn’t let that stop our adventure! We headed out to Little Italy where we dined in a romantic setting enjoying some authentic Italian cuisine. Amiccis restaurant was true to its name as staff greeted us with a warm welcome and a sense of hospitality like we were old friends. The snow quietly fell as they served our steamy fresh bread with olive oil for dipping, salad and main course. We asked the wait staff if we could meet whomever was in charge, much to our delight one of the owners Scott Panian was actually in. We chatted for a few minutes about the 24 years he and his business partner Roland Keh have owned the restaurant. Scott seemed genuine in giving credit to his sisters and staff for keeping things moving around the restaurant. They enjoy what they do. It shows in the quality of their cuisine and the casual cool atmosphere. We give Amiccis 5 stars for providing great cuisine and a lasting impression. Travel is just that, creating memories that last a lifetime.
